Communications and Direct Mail Intern

(Paid Graduate position)

Reporting to: Head of Fundraising and Communications

Location: Mercy University Hospital Foundation, Henry Street, Cork.

Duration: 6-month contract

Hours: 9-5 pm. Mon-Fri. Possible work may be required on weekends/evenings for special projects

Due to operational requirements, the Mercy University Hospital Foundation is currently recruiting a Communications and Direct Mail Intern. We are looking for an individual who is interested in gaining significant hands-on experience in the areas of direct mail, communications, public relations, research and social media management.

This exciting and challenging role will include:

  • Coordination of all Direct Mail for the Foundation including;

Newsletter mailing, Mercy Raffle and Christmas mailing

Work with the whole team on content and liaise with designers and data analysts.

Gather case studies to feature in mailings. Ensure data protection measures are

adhered to.

  • Coordination of all online activity for The Foundation including;

Social Media, iDonate, MUHF website, Realex and the monthly ezine

  • Ensure all artwork is in line with the branding guidelines
  • Work to continuously improve the Foundation’s operations so as to minimise the risk of reputational damage and to firmly establish the Foundation as a charity of choice
  • To contribute towards the Foundation being a supportive, positive and effective workplace
  • Ensuring the shared folder is continually updated
  • Contributing towards the Foundation being a highly regarded and ethical charity
  • Attend cheque presentations as necessary

Skills and Experience in any of these areas would be an advantage:

  • Third Level qualification
  • Strong writing skills, demonstrating flair and attention to detail
  • Experience with some or all of the following would be an advantage –

WordPress, Mailchimp, Survey Monkey, iDonate, Google Analytics, Google adwords, Facebook, Twitter and     LinkedIN

  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency using databases
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities with the capability to manage projects in line with organisational requirements
  • Excellent organisational, attention to detail and creative skills with ability to work on own initiative but also as an integral member of the team
  • Demonstrated ability to work to targets and deadlines
  • Enthusiastic, efficient and hard working with a positive can-do attitude
  • Flexible ability to deal with last minute tasks and integrate them with the overall workload
  • Responsible, reliable and honest
  • Stays calm under pressure
  • Passion for fundraising
  • Commitment to the mission and objectives of the Mercy University Hospital Foundation
