3rd International Summer School in “Emerging Architectures and Key Technologies for 5G Networks”

Pythagoreio, Samos Island, Greece

28 August – 1 September 2017

Presentation

5G networks are envisioned to be based on unifying and interconnecting communication systems, both wired and wireless, as well as computer networks, to provide a panorama of services with high speed and robust coverage at the user end. 5G philosophy, in contrast to 4G, is user-centric. Towards that idea, regulatory authorities and standardization bodies are setting new rules. 5G brings together technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT), Smart Energy Grid, Smart Cities, Smart Health, Machine-to-Machine and Device-to-Device Communications. All the aforementioned technologies and many more can be enabled, providing improved Quality of Service (QoS).Aegean-NetCom offers to participants a unique educational experience, as they will be able to interact and familiarize with academics and researchers of the University of the Aegean and the collaborating Universities, Research Institutes and Enterprises across Europe. The presenters have novel and innovative work in the field of networking technology with participation in national and international projects and publications in top-ranked journals. During the Summer School, a cross-sectoral scientific approach will be developed, composed primarily of the disciplines that need to be studied,to proceed in the design and afterwards the development of devices and systems that will inevitably lead to the implementation of the 5G Networks.

Topis:

  • MIMO & mm-Wave Band Systems
  • Smart Energy Grid & Smart Cities
  • Cloud & IPv6 Networks
  • LTE-Advanced & VoLTE Network Implementations
  • Network Virtualization & Software Defined Networks
  • Indoor Localization
  • Network Technologies & Management
  • Cooperative Technologies

Who should attend?

The Aegean-NetCom academic summer school is a 5-day course for undergraduate students in their final year, PhD students and IT/Network professionals interested in a comprehensive overview and broad coverage of the forthcoming “5G Network”.

Why should attend?

Aegean-NetCom will host several closely related lectures, workshops, labs and modules bringing together students, scientists, researchers, professors, engineers and service providers to exchange and share their experiences and new ideas focusing on research and innovation results under the theme ‘The 5G Breeze’.Through the courses, all the attendants will have the ability to learn about the future trends in networking technology and empower their knowledge that will give them the opportunity to focus on a specific technological subject included on the wider field of networking.
